800 CHAB and Hawks Agro are proud to present: "The Great Eight"!

Wednesday, August 12, 2015

All through August CHAB is saluting eight great heartland communities with live broadcasts, interviews with the local celebrities and newsmakers, and one lucky community gets a very special prize.  Hawks Agro will donate $5,000 to the community that brings in the most votes for their designated community project.  Elbow is one of these communities, and we have designated our community project to be the building of a picnic shelter in the Community Park.

Be sure to vote for Elbow, every 24 hours by clicking the link here (CHAB) and click on Elbow.  It’s easy – no need to log in.  And you can vote from every computer, laptop, tablet, ipad, phone, etc.  And be sure to use each of your web browsers! WE NEED YOUR VOTES!

Our Community Park was built as a result of Elbow being chosen as the first community in Saskatchewan to be awarded the national “Helping Hands Award” by ‘Let Them Be Kids’, a worldwide, non-profit charitable organization that helps communities like ours build playgrounds.  Under this initiative, the Village of Elbow was able to come together and in ONE DAY, build a Community Park that consists of a children’s playground, a Veterans Memorial, an authentic Aboriginal Tipi, outdoor fitness equipment, and walking trails.  Since that day in 2012, the Village was fortunate enough to have a ‘Peace Tower’ crafted by well known artist Joe Fafard, and erected in our memorial garden area of the Community Park, in 2014.  The last piece to our Community Park is the need for a picnic shelter – which will enhance the use of the area for many community functions, cultural events, performances, and for families to have picnics.  This project will provide the entire community, and our many visitors, with an inviting space in which to gather and enjoy everything the Community Park has to offer.  The picnic shelter project involves building a 30’ x 40’ covered picnic shelter with a 20’ x 40’ cement pad out front.

CHAB will be broadcasting live from Harbor Golf on Tuesday, August 18th – stop by and see them on location or tune in to hear some of our locals on the radio.
